FIREARMS
Choosing a firearm that is right for you is critical. There is no firearm that is right for everyone or every need. Come let our professional staff walk you through the process of finding a firearm that is right for you.
Some factors to consider are: does it fit in my hand, is it comfortable to hold and shoot, is it easy to operate, and how expensive is it? We stock firearms for every hand, experience level, and budget. We even have rental firearms so you can try before you buy. If we don't have the firearm you want in stock, let us special order it for you.
OVERALL SIZE:
First and foremost the size of the firearm should be considered in relation to intended use. The firearm should feel comfortable in YOUR hands and YOUR hands only. No one else can tell you what firearm to purchase or what firearm feels "right" to you. Other considerations are to determine what the main purpose of the firearm is going to be, for example: If the firearm will be carried, smaller size would be an ideal characteristic.
CALIBER:
The "power" of the firearm is an important factor in determining the range or distance it can shoot, as well as the overall "stopping power" of the firearm. The larger the caliber, the farther and more forcefully it will shoot. The Marksman recommends any caliber of .38 Special or higher as calibers that have adequate "stopping power".
RELIABILITY:
Choosing a firearm that is reliable will ensure that it's there when you need it. Reliability is directly related to quality. A cheap gun does not mean a reliable gun. The Marksman carries only quality firearms at reasonable prices to fit any budget.
EASE OF USE:
Simple, effective operation of the firearm will improve accuracy and safety.
TRAINING:
Proper training in the operation and use of your firearm is mandatory to its safe operation. The Marksman offers many different types of training courses and instruction. There are also alternative training groups and gun clubs that offer firearm training. Obtain the proper training to use your firearm.
COMMON TERMS:
Ever wonder what someone is talking about when they say "ACP" or "Semi-auto," well take a look at some common firearms terminology and wonder no more!
