We offer several training & safety courses for all levels of shooters - from the Novice to
the Advanced. Our instructors are all NRA & Arizona State Certified and have years of
experience in firearm education and training.

CCW - CONCEALED CARRY WEAPONS COURSE
The Marksman Pistol Institute has been approved by the Arizona Department of Public Safety to teach individuals
the Concealed Carry Weapons Permit Course or "CCW".
This 8-hour course consists of both classroom instruction and live-fire training. You will learn proper safety and
responsibility of gun ownership, safe gun handling, proper grip, sighting and trigger control, methods of concealed
carry, encounters with law enforcement, surviving a crisis situation, Arizona state law, and crisis prevention.
Each course is 8 hours total • Students will have a 10 min. break each hour, plus a 1-hour lunch from 12-1pm

BASIC HANDGUN COURSE
For the new or novice shooter, the Basic Handgun Course is an excellent start to shooting.
Written by NRA certified instructors at the Marksman, this course covers the basic skills and knowledge
necessary to be safe, proficient, and confident with a handgun. You will learn how pistols and revolvers work,
how ammunition works, breath control, trigger control, and the responsibilities of firearm ownership...
including safe handling and storage. You will be issued a Marksman handgun and ammunition
to participate in a shooting exercise at our indoor firing range.
Each course is 4 hours total • Students will have a 10 min. break each hour, plus a 1-hour lunch

INTERMEDIATE HANDGUN COURSE
Most people who carry a firearm for self defense have never learned how to quickly and effectively employ it
in a crisis situation. The Marksman's Intermediate Defensive Handgun Course will give you the skills
necessary to survive a defensive shooting.
Techniques taught in these four classes are:
Class One - Basic combat pistol stance, drawing from a holster, basic reloading skills, and identifying accuracy issues.
Class Two - Defensive shooting tactics and techniques.
Class Three – The effects stress has on your shooting ability and mental conditioning. You will participate in
stress induced firing drills.
Class Four – You will learn the basics of tactical shooting for multiple targets as well as barricade shooting.
Students will also engage multiple moving targets.
This course has been developed and refined by our NRA certified instructors at the Marksman.
Our Intermediate Class is not only for advanced shooters, this exciting intensive course will greatly increase
any student's confidence with a firearm.

AZDPS CERTIFIED SECURITY COURSES
The Marksman Pistol Institute's Security Course has been developed to meet the Arizona State requirements for
security personnel to carry a firearm. Our Security Course is continually updated to reflect any and all current
state regulatory modifications; we have also enhanced this course to provide a more comprehensive curriculum
that will take the student to a higher level of proficiency.

16-HOUR SECURITY CERTIFICATION COURSE
This course meets the State of Arizona requirements for security personnel to carry a firearm. Students will be taught
current Arizona State Law, basic firearm handling, proper presentation for drawing from a holster, tactical loading,
terrorism awareness, fire safety, tactics for violence in the work place, and body armor/flashlight use.
8-HOUR SECURITY RE-CERTIFICATION COURSE
This course is for security personnel who are already state certified and need to renew their credentials.

PERSONAL INSTRUCTION
The Marksman also offers Individual Personal Instruction. If your schedule doesn't match our classes, you can schedule
instruction with one of our friendly professional instructors on a day that works for you.
Personal Instruction is $45.00 per hour for the first person and $30 per hour for the second.

TACTICAL DEFENSE TRAINING
Defensive Tactics Training for Civilians
Gun retention and edged weapon defense with a firearm course.
Phase 1 of this 8-hour course covers the tactics and training needed for the student to effectively retain their firearm
in a violent confrontation. The student will learn simple and effective ways of retaining their firearm based on leverage
not strength and joint manipulation.
Phase 2 of the course will cover tactics for defending against edged weapon attacks.
The student will learn quick and efficient ways of accessing their firearm under the stress of a knife attack.
Students are also given the opportunity to use what they have learned in Force-on-Force training
simulations based on actual real life encounters.
EDGED WEAPON PERSONAL PROTECTION COURSE
The edged weapon course covers the basic use of edged weapons (knives) for self defense.
Basic tactics and training of edged weapon fighting are covered such as: cutting, footwork and evasion skills.
Students are also taught how to defend themselves against a knife if empty handed.
Defense against firearms and impact weapons are also covered. This course is ideal for people who may not feel
comfortable carrying a firearm and would like an alternative means of self defense training.
UNARMED TACTICS FOR PERSONAL DEFENSE COURSE
This course will cover basic tactics used in unarmed situations the student may encounter.
Training will include basic defense against physical assaults (punching and kicking) chokes and grabbing attacks and
weapon defense for handguns and edged weapons. Students will also be taught basic ground
defense in case they are tackled and taken to the ground. Students are then given an opportunity to use what
they have learned in Force-on-Force training simulations based on actual real life encounters.
EACH TACTICAL DEFENSE COURSE IS TAUGHT ONE SATURDAY PER MONTH
FROM 9:00 AM TO 6:00 PM.
